J. Crew Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

As of sometime late last week, it has become alarmingly (but quite understandably) difficult to find someone, anyone anywhere NOT celebrating the release of J.Crew’s Spring/Summer Collections for 2012. This, by no means, is a bad thing, but merely a referral as to why I feel the need to chime in with the volumes of praise sounding off around the blogosphere. I mean, how could I not join the conversation when my mailbox has been stuffed with goodies like these…

Thus, I’ve been ever-so busy evaluating the new collection from head to toe, picking and choosing my favorite pieces, and finally figuring out a way to budget my acquisitions so that I don’t have to explain to my husband why we’re eating 79¢ cans of soup for an entire week. He hardly understands why multicolored-sequin cardigans and a wrist full of baubles would be the priority here…

J.Crew Spring/Summer 2012 Women's Collection

Nevertheless, the Spring/Summer 2012 pieces are both eclectic and darling, held tightly together by a striking color palette and a need for sparkle. Reminiscent of Kate Spade’s “pop of color” campaign and that feeling you get around New Year’s Eve when all you want to do is wear some sequins, the Collection boldly tramples any expectation that neon green and canary yellow are only appropriate well into the later months of summer. On the contrary, J.Crew warmly ushers in a über-textured, finely designed treasure trove of apparel, accents, and accessories for the quirky color-lover at heart.

And now for a few of my favorite things…

1. Sequin Striped Cardigan $198 // 2. Printed iPhone4 Case $25 // 3. Blythe Blouse $98 // 4. Polka Dot Shorts $59.50 // 5. Sperry Original Top Sider in Dark Spearmint $98 // 6. Sparrow Earrings $25 // 7. Enameled Giraffe Bangle $98 // 8. Edie Attache bag $288 // All via J.Crew
